| FOCUS : Epigenetics and Cancer Conference |
|
The inaugural Epigenetics & Cancer conference will be held in Paris on 29-30 May 2017. The conference is organized by 4 institutions and networks (CVT aviesan, Institut Curie, REpiCGO and Grenoble Epigenetics Club) which are highly involved in epigenetics basic and translational research. The goal is to bring together leading scientists, clinicians and companies interested in epigenetics to discuss the latest discoveries and developments of its applications in cancer therapy and diagnosis.
This 2-day meeting will take place in the Cité Internationale Universitaire of Paris. The first day will focus on the new insights in epigenetic mechanisms in cancer and the second day on the new epigenetic strategies to diagnose and treat cancer.

| 2nd SUNRiSE Meeting - Stem Cells & Cancer |
|
The SUNRiSE network is organizing its 2nd annual meeting entitled "Stem Cells and Cancer" in Montpellier, on June 26th and 27th 2017, with the support of Cancéropôle GSO and Cancéropôle PACA.
Objective: the cancer stem cell consortium (SUd CaNceR Stem cEll network, SUNRiSE network) aims at promoting interactions between researchers and clinicians involved in the field of cancer stem cells (CSC) in solid tumors. The meeting targets an audience of scientists and physicians interested in CSCs, developing research projects on the study of the biology, dissemination, plasticity and resistance of CSCs on solid tumors. This meeting aims at reinforcing cooperation between the network's teams and at initiating collaborations with new teams, at the national level, in order to strenghten and enlarge the network.

| Mécanismes moléculaires d'action du facteur de transcription chimérique ETO-GLIS2 dans les leucémies aiguës à mégacaryoblastes (LAM7) |

Dans l'étude qui vient d'être publiée dans Cancer Cell, l'équipe du Dr Thomas Mercher (INSERM U1170, Institut Gustave Roussy) a mis en évidence les mécanismes moléculaires d’action de la protéine de fusion ETO2-GLIS2. Ce facteur de transcription recombiné est présent dans un sous-type particulièrement agressif de leucémies de l’enfant affectant les mégacaryocytes, les leucémies aiguës à mégacaryoblastes (LAM7). Les travaux montrent que ETO2-GLIS2 interagit dans le noyau des cellules avec la protéine normale ETO2 et dérégule fonctionnellement la balance GATA1/ETS. Ce type d'altération est déjà connue pour jouer un rôle dans d'autres leucémies aiguës à mégacaryoblastes, révélant ainsi un mécanisme commun pour des pathologies génétiquement hétérogènes. De plus, l'étude montre que l’utilisation d’un petit peptide permet le blocage de l'interaction ETO2-GLIS2 / ETO2 induisant la mort des cellules cancéreuses, ce qui pourrait constituer une nouvelle stratégie thérapeutique pour ces patients.
